OVAS Exhibition 2019

The 2019 exhibition, 9th-17th August, attracted very enthusiastic comment from public and artists alike. Our new feature, a stall selling cards of works by OVAS members, proved a great success.

This was a great success. It was very well attended and people commented on the great diversity and high quality of artwork on display. Pretty good considering that most of us are amateurs.
Jane Leitch was this year's judge. She is an established artist based in Newton Abbott specialising in Oils and Pastels. Her favourite subjects are animals, and marine and figurative landcapes.
The winners of awards were
The Otter Award For Drawing   Chloe Brice  'Monkey World'
The Leonard Pargiter Award For Watercolours   Tracey Rapson  'Light On The Canal'
The Alwyn Crawshaw Award For Acrylics    Penny Lamb 'Stone Circle'
Society Of Pastels Award For Pastels  Nickie Bitschi  'It Wasn't Me'
David Young Award For Oils    Gillian Jones 'A Wessex Summer'
Janet Langmaid  Award For Mixed Media Pauline Hatfield 'Forbidden Treasure'
The Alice Comont Cup For 3-D Works    Simon Gray   Female Duck

Once again, we are immensely grateful to our President, Phil Creek, for exhibiting a painting of the scene covered in his recent demo for us. Equally to Jane for the rocky seascape she has displayed. Thankyou to both.
And this year we are raising money for Ottery Help Scheme, based opposite St Saviour's Bridge, which offers voluntary help to all ages in the community according to need. More information on the OHS can be seen HERE

A small selection from over 200 artworks. Alas, there were plenty of beauties that 'got away' because of reflections on glass.  Still, this gives an idea of the quality and diversity of exhibited works.
